About Us

Six Shooter Cellars is the result of the dreams of two entrepreneurs, David Skinner (owner of Clear Creek Vineyard in Kemah, Texas), and Bob Besgrove, formerly a co-owner of Cowtown Winery in Fort Worth, Texas. In 2013, David and Bob recognized the wine renaissance that was happening in Texas, especially in the Fredericksburg area. They found four other winery owners that did not have a presence in the Fredericksburg area and started Six Shooter Cellars. They found the perfect place east of Fredericksburg on US 290 – a beautiful building with an interior consisting of massive wood timbers reassembled from an old tobacco barn in Tennessee.

Personal circumstances intervened in the ensuing years that affected several of the partners, and David and Bob became too busy with other entrepreneurial enterprises to continue active management, so the owners sold Six Shooter to Dave and Debbie Charlesworth in February, 2017. The Charlesworths are partners with Mr. Skinner in the Clear Creek winery, so they have been associated with David and that business for many years. Blue Lotus Winery and Texas Mead Works became valued suppliers and colleagues in early 2017, and Copper Star Cellars joined in during the summer of 2017. Blue Lotus and Copper Star both source all of their grapes from either their own grape vines or from other Texas growers.
