The history of the Fools is like all good histories: convoluted. The summary is, there were three of us at one time; now there are two. Their names are Barry Glassman and Derek Whiteside. Enough said, but keep reading for the longer story...
... it goes like this. A gaggle of Corvallis folk make a barrel (~23 cases) of wine in 2001. Two of those people, having thoroughly caught the bug, make wine together in 2002, and again in 2003. In 2004, they bring a third partner into the mix. The three of them make wine together for a few years, and occasionally, the question comes up: "Wouldn't it be great if we could make our hobby pay for itself?"
In 2007, it all came together: the trio lined up five tons of fruit and a place to work with it. The rest is history EXCEPT that in the summer of 2010, one of the Founding Fools retired; undeterred, the remaining two Fools now carry the torch. And that retired Fool? He's still with us, in a way... Come to our annual April 1 party and you can meet him.Â
