About Us:
On the southernmost tip of Lake Michigan, just south of the largest sand dunes in the Midwest, lies a ridge formed thousands of years ago by the glaciers as they crept south during the three great Ice Ages that covered the mid-western area and created the Great Lakes. This ridge is called the Valparaiso Moraine. It is the highest point in northwest Indiana, and home to one of Indiana's best kept secrets, Anderson's Vineyard and Winery.
A family tradition originating in 1927, Anderson's Orchard has grown from a small roadside market to the most beautiful 40 acre family attraction spot in Porter County, Indiana. In 1954, Bill Anderson expanded the family business to its present location with a goal of planting 1,000 apple trees each year until the highest ridge in Porter County abounded with apples. As we approach our 50th anniversary, it is time we look forward to the New Millennium with upgrades and expansion. The orchard has been renovated and is now primarily a vineyard. New additions include bedding plants and greenhouses, the Bakery, the Gift Shop and crafts by local artists. We would describe our business as a family oriented, value-added operation. Our business is quite diversified. We not only sell our own wines, but also host picnics, parties, and bus tours. We have a bakery and carry unique gift items.
In 1993 the Orchard and Marketing operation was taken over by David Lundstrom and family. The vision that the Lundstrom family had was to take the history of fruit production and couple to it a value added operation and in 1994 the first Estate Winery in Indiana north of Indianapolis was established. Anderson's Winery specializes in light fruity wines produced from fruit and grapes grown in the Midwest area. Today the orchard has been replaced by Vineyards and in 2003 our first Estate Bottled wines were released.
Anderson's continues its commitment to expansion and giving the customer a truly unique country wine experience. You'll love our bakery, fudge factory, and gift shop Our candles, steins, glassware. local handmade crafts, and homemade jams and jellies are just a few of the treasures you will find on your visit with us. We are also home to the largest selection of beer and wine making suppliers in the Chicago land area. In the spring visit our greenhouse.
