About Us:
Angelita Vineyard & Winery started by a conversation with my husband and our desire to do something different with our land.  Experts say to do something that you love to do and it won't seem like work. Well, we both love wine and after doing a bit of research, we found that vineyards are expanding in Texas since it is a growing industry, and there was a high demand for wine grapes. We also found that Texas is making some award winning wines. So we did some preparation to the soil and land, and decided to plant 200 Blanc Du Bois vines to see how they grew.
These vines were planted in the Spring of 2010, shortly after my mother-in-law passed away after a battle with cancer. Her name was Angelita, which means "Little Angel" in Spanish.  She truly was an Angel. She believed that you could overcome and achieve anything you set your mind to, and always had a dream of becoming a registered nurse.  After entering the third grade, she quit school to go to work to help support the family and ensure her siblings had enough food to eat. She taught herself to read and write, and became a regular at the local library reading as many books as she possibly could. She overcame many obstacles in her life but still managed to maintain a positive attitude and thankful spirit.  After marrying my father-in-law, she left her small town in New Mexico and lived in Japan, Spain, Hawaii and in Nebraska prior to settling in with us here in Texas. She was blessed with four children and several grandchildren. With her belief in herself and her determination to make her dream come true, she returned to school at age 42.  Upon graduation, her dream was fulfilled and she worked as a nurse several years at the hospital in Nebraska. Similar to the resiliency of the vines, she was an inspiration to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her story of the obstacles that she surpassed and her determination is quite inspiring. As a tribute to her, we named the Vineyard after her - Angelita Vineyard.
Since that March, we have expanded our vineyard from the initial planting of 200 vines to over 1,500 vines of Blanc Du Bois. We have also planted 200 Ruby Cabernet grape vines and are growing close to 5 acres of vines at this time. As our dream of the vineyard evolved, so did the dream of opening the winery. We are so excited that the dream has become a reality and we are now open to the public.
We have several wines available and are bringing out a new wine every quarter. Appetizers are also available for purchase to enjoy while sipping your favorite wine. Enjoy fine wine, good friends and great music while enjoying the beautiful Texas sunset over looking the vineyard!
