Our Vineyard
Distant Cellars Winery is located in the historic gold mining town of Fiddletown, California. Situated on the western edge of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, we are approximately 50 miles east of Sacramento.
Nestled up against the Sierra Foothills, this picturesque region was settled in the early 1850's by thousands of fortune seekers flocking to the area, driven to satisfy their insatiable thirst for gold.
Located in the eastern portion of the Fiddletown appellation, Distant Cellars' vineyard sits at over 2,000 feet in elevation with a soil consisting of decomposed, iron infused, granite. Averaging 36"-40" inches of rainfall a year, the vines are rarely in need of additional water while a high luminosity, or solar radiance, and low humidity allow our grapes to reach proper ripening year over year.
