About Us:
DuCard Vineyards comprises 7 acres of French vinifera and native Virginia varieties, all meticulously nurtured and tended by hand. Our vineyard, located at an elevation of 1,000 feet on a picturesque slope in the shadow of the Blue Ridge mountains, produces grapes that reflect the rocky soils and rugged landscape of Madison County, Va., and yields wines of unique character and complexity. Our site, a former apple orchard, features rocky soil and has a consistent breeze off the mountains to the west, providing ideal conditions for growing premium grapes.
We are fortunate to be growing the four grapes that are gaining national and international recognition as Virginia’s stars: Viognier, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Virginia Native Norton. Our wines are made in small lots that emphasize each varietal’s unique characteristics.
