For years, this generation of the Hemman family made wine and set it aside for special occasions. They'd bring a bottle or two to share when catching up with friends and neighbors. Well, word got around. Pretty soon folks were asking to buy some of their country wines. As time marched on, the Hemmans decided to take their friends advice. In 2003 they opened the door of Hemman Winery.Making wine that tastes like the fruit it's made from. Today you'll be greeted by a Hemman or two when you walk through the door. The family works hard to continue their heritage of wine makers. Â
Walking through the front door of the winery is a lot like taking a step back in time. Here the sounds of your boots cross the worn wooden floor. Browse through the old store shelves that now adays hold bottles of wine and reminders of another time. When it's too cold to sit on the front porch, pull up a seat and warm yourself by the wood-burning stove.Â
