Our founders - John (d. 2010) and Helen Walker
The winery opened its doors to the public in February, 1999. What owners John and Helen Walker wanted was very simple: to craft superior wines at reasonable prices that would rival the best Washington wineries. To achieve this goal they selected an outstanding staff and encouraged them to be creative.
As a result of staff creativity and commitment to quality and customer service, the winery quickly grew. Kestrel Vintners crafted wines to suit wine lovers with palates for dark, rich, red wines. They wasted no time in establishing a reputation for producing outstanding, unique wines. These elegant, distinctive wines include a Signature Edition Series Old Vine Merlot, Cabernet, and Raptor Red, their flagship meritage blend. The Winemaker Select Series includes interesting varietals such as Malbec, Mourvedre, Co-ferment Syrah, Cabernet Franc and our Two Ton Cabernet Sauvignon. The Falcon Series includes handcrafted Viognier, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Rose. The Collector Series includes Pure Platinum and Lady in Red.
Obsession with absolute quality is carried throughout every aspect of the Kestrel experience. From the carefully tended Kestrel View Estate Vineyard to the perfectly aged wines, one need only sample Kestrel wines to understand that quality is poured into every glass.
