Open: Year Round
About M Cellars
My passion for wine was born when I processed my first batch of grapes into wine. After many batches I began to think about different methods to improve the quality. The short answer was to control the condition of the product coming out of the vineyard by growing the fruit myself. Unfortunately, being a home winemaker, this was not a viable option. This led my family and I to the idea of starting a commercial winery and vineyard. At that point, the search for an ultra premium site began. After much exploration and consideration, we settled on our property at 6193 South River Rd. At the time of purchase, this 12.6 acre site was planted in Niagara grapes. In order to properly prepare for our planting of vinifera wine grapes many improvements had to be done. First we completely tore out the old vines, leveled the land appropriate for planting, and drain file was installed down every row. We adjusted soil PH and nutrients, plowed, disked, and left the land fallow for a year. We were finally ready to plant! The first 5 acres of vines planted were Riesling and Pinot Noir in the Spring of 2008. We followed this in the Spring of 2009 with our final planting of another 5 acres Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, Gruner Veltliner, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay. I hope that you will find these wines to be the finest you have enjoyed. See you in the winery!
