A favorite saying of owner John Barbier is, "Life is to short for cheap wine!" John grew up in the Loire Valley in France, where his family had been making wine for the past 150 years. His 4.5 acre vineyard, Maison La Belle Vie (French for "House of Beautiful Life") was planted 8 years ago. The first vintages from the estate winery, were introduced in 2006 and included Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Rosé and Muscat; a dessert wine that is traditional in the Loire Valley in France. Maison la Belle Vie has now added 3 Reserve wines, a Merlot, Syrah and Petit Verdot all aged for 4 years  as well as the famous Vin de Peche; a Muscat, fortified with peaches - a recipe from John's family that has been handed down through the generations since the late 1800's. A new addition is a hand crafted walnut liquor that is simply delicious.

Under the direction of John Barbier, Maison la Belle Vie has learned how to grow the best fruit, which makes for the best wine. Mr. Barbier's experience and expertise in winemaking and as well as intimate knowledge of the arid high-desert region of western Colorado has helped in Barbier's transition from growing fruit in France, to Colorado. The age-old practice of "dry-farming" is still used today in our vineyard allowing us to achieve maximum results by adding to the complexity and flavor of the fruit.

We respect our vineyard and those who supply us grapes. We strive for a minimalist approach with our wine so the content of the bottle will always reflect an unmanipulated purity for the grape to shine.
