History:
The Papagni family tradition of growing grapes for wine making reaches further back in time than any family member can recall. Angelo Papagni's father, Demetrio, and his father before him were grape growers who worked in the vineyards of Bari, Italy, near the Adriatic Coast. From fathers to sons, the art of grape growing has been passed down.
Like his forefathers, Demetrio Papagni dreamed of growing grapes in his own vineyard. However, during the early 1900's, premium vineyard land in Italy was rarely available for purchase, and young Demetrio considered possible sites outside his native country.
