Pheasant Ridge is a proud, early pioneer of Texas's commercial wine-making industry. The winery and vineyard have always been, since their founding, a family-owned operation. Pheasant Ridge is located right outside of Lubbock, Texas, in the appellation known as the Texas High Plains. Pheasant Ridge has been producing wine in West Texas for 28 years with the same winemaking team for the last 20 years. We are a boutique producer, the fourth oldest winery in the state, and all of our wines are 100% estate grown.Â
The vineyard, planted in 1979, currently encompasses 45 acres of grape vines running throughout the property. At 3,300 feet above sea level, Lubbock, despite its vastly different look, is an agricultural dead ringer for the Bordeaux region not only due to plentiful irrigation from the Ogallala Aquifer, but also, warm days and cool nights during the growing season and loamy, calcareous soil where roots burrow instinctively deep to draw from the rich abundance of nutrients.
