The Ponzi Wine Bar opened its doors in Dundee in 1998, as an innovative venue for collectively promoting high-profile Oregon wines alongside the Ponzi family's own highly regarded wines. It has grown to represent more than 150 top Oregon vintners and has been widely credited for having provided an entry into the marketplace for many small producers. Over the past decade, the wine bar has become a landmark destination for both local residents and visitors from around the globe and has given rise to similar wine bars in other states.
Located in the heart of Oregon's wine country, the wine bar offers rotating flights of both Ponzi and guest wines on a daily basis. Most of the brands are extremely rare and provide special format bottles for the wine bar exclusively. Many of the featured wines are produced in such limited quantities the wine bar is one of the few venues where the wine is made available for tasting. Adding to the Ponzi Wine Bar's allure is its proximity to the highest concentration of Oregon wineries. This provides the opportunity for wine bar staff to meet with winemakers and visit wineries and vineyards often, forming a well-rounded education, building intimate relationships, and creating a deep understanding of the wines and the colorful personalities involved in producing them. Consequently, the staff 's wealth of knowledge, attention to quality and high service standards have resulted in strong customer loyalty of several thousand buyers across the country. In 2006, a personal concierge service was established, whereby wines are hand selected to match a customer's palate and price range.
