Saginaw Vineyard is at the Southernmost tip of the Willamette Valley in a unique micro-climate created where the valley floor rises and the Coast Range meets the foothills of the Cascades. Compared to other Willamette Valley locations, evenings are cooler and days are warmer here with frequent morning fog. The cool nights and warm afternoons are ideal for the Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris varietals and help the grapes develop the characteristic fruity flavors typical of the best vineyards.

Saginaw is a small vineyard originally planted by the Byler family. It is still operated by the family and specializes in traditional, hand-crafted, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris wines as well as Rose' of Pinot Noir. With few exceptions our wines are made exclusively from grapes grown on the estate and annual production is less than 2000 cases - very small even by Oregon standards.

The vineyard is planted at 620 feet of elevation in Chehalis and Newberg alluvial loam soils with four acres of Pinot Noir (Wadensville, Pommard, and Dijon clones) and four acres of Pinot Gris (Clones 68 and 152). Two additional acres are planted to Muller Thurgau, Chardonnay, and Marechal Foch for making small batches of specialty wines.

We opened our tasting room in 2001. It is now located in the original building of a 1905 farmstead. We'll meet with you for complimentary tasting of our award winning traditional wines and our specialty, farm-fresh, fruit wines.
