Our Story:
The Showalter Farm has a rich history starting with growing tomatoes to serve the local and surrounding areas with fresh tomatoes as well as growing wheat. Over the past centuries, the farm transitioned from tomatoes to chicken farming. As the family grew and dispersed, the lay of the land remain beautiful as always, but the immense farming which took place went dormant. In early 2010, the family decided that the farm had been dormant for too long. The family consisting of Jim and Judy Showalter, their daughters, Traci Showalter and Carrie Vernon and husband Kevin Vernon all shared an immense passion and interest in vineyards and wineries in Virginia, so an idea was born. After several years of planning, educational classes, and guidance from other vineyard and winery owners, Stoney Brook Vineyards was brought to life in 2012. Stoney Brook is a rustic family owned Farm Vineyard and Winery, special events, and wedding venue nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Botetourt County. Botetourt County is well known for its beautiful mountainous scenery and majestic rolling hillsides, as well as its several vineyards and wineries along the “Botetourt Wine Trail”. Looking for a wedding venue near me? Well, you do! Stoney Brook resides on the family owned Showalter farm which has been in the family since the mid-1800s. The Showalter Farm comprises 240 acres of rolling hills, of which 28 acres are dedicated to Stoney Brook.
