Hours: Year Round
Turdo Vineyards is a family owned and run operation. It all begins with Sal, he is the owner, as well as master  wine maker. His vision, commitment, and determination is what turned just over 5 acres of woods he purchased over ten years ago, into a very successful fully operational vineyard and winery. It took a lot work and time, not only from Sal, but from his family to make Turdo Vineyards what it has become. His wife Sara, and son Luca  have been behind Sal, helping him from the beginning.
His elegant wife Sara, who you will most likely see in the tasting room showcasing her husband's latest vintages, has been helping and supporting Sal since day one. Whether it's pouring wine for customer tasting, or helping hand pick grapes during harvest season, Sara is there helping in every way she can.
Luca, Sal's son, is also his right hand man, assisting Sal in the winemaking process, as well as tending to the vineyard. Luca also  handles the vineyard's marketing and public relations, as well as designing all the wine labels.  Like Sara, Luca has been helping his father from the start of his endeavor, hand digging the vineyard's first holes and planting the first vines.  Whether it's filtering wine, washing barrels, bottling the wine, picking grapes, or helping his mother in the tasting room, Luca lends a hand wherever it's needed.
All the work and time needed to establish any successful business is extensive, but what makes this story extra special is that this was all done on a part-time basis. The Turdo family has been living in North Jersey for the past 23 years. They have been making the weekend trek to Cape May for over ten years. Sal was a successful electrical contractor before becoming a licensed electrical inspector in 3 towns in North Jersey. He inspects three days a week, and on most Wednesday nights, he and his wife Sara, make the three hour journey down to other end of the state.
